Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is required when accessing many TeamHealth applications.  While MFA requirements may vary by application, most require MFA once every 24 hours.

To complete the Registration process, you will need a computer, as well as, your primary mobile device available to install the authentication app, Okta Verify, which can be downloaded on Apple, Android, and Windows devices, including smartphones, tablets, Apple Watch, and Android Wear.

Registration for MFA is a one-time event, unless you decide to register a new mobile device, at which time the Okta Verify app on any previously registered device will be inactivated.  For security reasons, you may only register one device at a time.

Step 1: Open the browser on your PC and enter teamhealth.okta.com.

Step 2: When the Okta login page opens, enter your TeamHealth email address and password. You will need your mobile device, e.g. phone or tablet, to continue and validate your account.

Step 3: When you have your mobile device ready, select Configure factor.

Step 4: Select the type of mobile device you have by clicking the icon for Apple, Android, or Windows.

In this example, Android has been selected, but the same steps will be followed for Apple and Windows devices.

Step 5: You will be prompted to download the Okta Verify app on your mobile device, e.g. mobile phone, tablet, Apple Watch and Android Wear.  Once the app is loaded, click the Next button on your computer screen.

Step 6: A barcode will appear on your computer screen.  On your mobile device, open Okta Verify and click Add or + (plus sign) to launch the scanner.

Step 7: Once the mobile device has successfully scanned the hidden code, a screen will open on your computer.  Choose the option to Send Push.

For security reasons, you must validate your account each time you login. You can choose “Do not challenge me on this device for the next 24 hours” if your device is secure and will not be accessible to others.

Step 8: On your mobile device, an option to Approve or Deny will open. (If the Okta Verify app isn’t open, a pop-up notification will allow you to quickly Approve or Deny the login.) You must choose Approve to continue logging into the TeamHealth application you’re trying to access.

Step 9: Once the login is approved from your mobile device, your Okta home page will open on your computer allowing access to multiple applications.

Note: After registering for MFA, when logging into any TeamHealth application that requires authentication, the “Send Push” option screen will open on your computer.  If you haven’t chosen the “Send push automatically” option, choose Send Push and Approve the notification on your mobile device.

In the event that you have poor connectivity on your mobile device, you can choose “Or enter code” and manually enter a one-time 6-digit passcode generated by the Okta Verify app.  When you open the Okta Verify app, an image like below will appear with a 6-digit code that resets every 30 seconds.  Manually type the 6-digit code into the field below the “Send Push” button and click Verify.
